For those of you who have been following me since the start of this CAL some 3 years ago(!! It’s actually 3 years since that first post) and even those who haven’t, I want you to know that this is the end. This is what 128 granny squares looks like when I try to fit it all into a space so I can take a picture:

As I was laying them out, I definitely noticed that my crocheting ability has gotten better over time. Some squares are clearly better than other squares. It’s going to take some time for me to sort through them to see which ones I like to make into a blanket. There are some that are just a solid color, but the stitching is really nice. I think most non-crocheters/knitters wouldn’t appreciate it as much, but those solid colored ones are my favorites.

Here are the last three squares.

201. Zigzag Bobbles: Bobbles! ❤

205. Hourglass: Thank goodness these single crochet squares are over!

209. Marigold: A nice flower to end.

Until next time, happy crocheting!

CAL #189, 193, 197

It is September now, which only means one thing: craft show and Christmas crocheting has BEGUN! It’s not too early. I went to the store today and bought red, green, and white yarn. The cashier even commented about it. Luckily, I finished the CAL squares, so my full focus can be on those projects (not that my focus was ever really on this CAL 100%).

189. Willow: I’m only left with these really bright colors, but I think this works well.

193. Textured Stripes: A slight twist on the classic single crochet square. Not that bad. Again, the colors.

197. Fretwork: I really like this one. The bit of yellow really pops!

Until next time, happy crocheting!

CAL #177, 181, 185

I’m happy to report that I’ve actually finished the last square of this CAL!  I am just a bit behind on the blogging part, but I do like to space out my posts. As long as I’ve completed them, I don’t mind having the post be a little slower.

Let’s begin!

177. Trio: Not bad. I’m not sure I would pick the white background again. It makes it seem dull.

181. Begonia: Begonia, as I had to look up, is a type of flower. I suppose the middle part looks like a flower, but I like how colorful this square is.

185. In the Pink: The book has this square going from a dark pink to a light pink color. I’m running low on colors, as mentioned before, so I made it random. You may notice that these colors are just like the colors from the previous square. I don’t think I’ll put them next to each on the blanket.

DSCN0497I have 6 more squares left to post. Isn’t that just exciting? Until next time, happy crocheting!

We’re Getting Close! CAL #165, 169, and 173

This is becoming very exciting! I have such a huge drive to finish right now; no idea why, but after 3 years, this will finally be done (almost!). I just need to figure out how to organize all these squares to make more projects later. However, that is a problem for another day. Right now, I need to finish making all the squares first, which will hopefully be soon… unless I get side tracked by another project again.

165. Coffee & Cream: I tried to keep the brown and cream color going, hence the name of the square. As I’ve stated before, I’m running low on colors, so effort made. I do like this square.

169. Interlocking Stripes: This square is a dreaded single crochet nightmare. They always look nice at the end, but the carrying and picking up is not super fun when making it. I hope to never have to make a single crochet blanket.

173. Big Round: I really like this!

Now there’s only 9 squares left until the end.

Until next time, happy crocheting!

Yay yay yay! I’m making progress!

153. Candy Stripe Bobbles: I do love bobbles. This is like chili peppers, right?

157. Boxed Square: This is annoying. It’s also really tight. Not a huge fan of this one.

161. Daisy Chain: As you may be able to tell, I’m running out of yarn for this project, which is way the colors are exactly the same as the previous square. I do like this one.

Until next time, happy crocheting!

CAL #141, 145, 149

A lot has happened this month, and I’ve made so much progress with the yarn! I feel like my yarn stash has been decreasing, but I can’t really tell, because there is still so much yarn around here.

Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you for putting up with all my yarn clutter (and regular clutter, in general) when you visit my apartment.

You may start to notice that these squares will have very similar colors, because the yarn for this project is definitely dwindling. I don’t want to buy more since I’m almost done. Once I finish all these CAL squares (15 more to go!), I’m going to pick the best ones and make a blanket that will hopefully fit my bed. 😀 I’ve already got the yarn that will make a nice border.

141. Quartet: A typical single crochet square, and rather simple too.

145. Chocolate Box: This is so nice! I love this square. The little link bits really draw this together.

149. Solid Square: It’s a simple color choice, but it’s really nice.

Until next time, happy crocheting!

My mini family trip wasn’t too bad. Long car rides also allow for some crocheting to get done. Progress is being made!

129. Anemone: I really liked the colors in the book, so these are about the same. It’s a neat square.

133. Sunshine Stripes: Not a huge fan of these types of squares.

137. Criss Cross: I like how the pattern of the holes is what the square is named after.

Until next time, happy crocheting!

Allergy season is finally here, and it is bad. Eyes, nose, sometimes even my ears- so itchy! It’s like the plants thought, “Oh, you had a record setting winter? We can make it way worst for you.” No worries though, because there been a sudden heat spike, so hopefully, everything will bloom faster, and it’ll be over and done with by the end of May.

Speaking of the heat spike, I just switched out my winter clothes! Summer warmth, please be kind this year!

This usually means a decrease in my desire to touch yarn. Mostly, all fabrics. I try to wear as little as possible in the summer. There may be a slow decline in how far I manage to get in my projects from now until the end of August. Crocheting is a winter hobby for many.

117. Granny in the Middle: You can’t go wrong with granny squares.

121. Coral Seas: The name is based on the colors they used in the book. Mine is probably “Spring Flower” or something.

125. Triple Stripes: I wanted to try the green as an accent, rather than as a main color. I don’t know if using the magenta was too much.

Until next time, enjoy the weather and happy crocheting!

CAL #105, 109, 113

May the Fourth be with you! ❤

The craft show is over! Woo-hoo! Now, it’s back to normal. Whatever I want to make and finish projects! 😀

The CAL squares are still a work in progress, but the end is in sight! In case, you’re wondering about the weird numbers, the book has now entered this thing where it shows different color combinations and counts them as “new squares.”

105. Double Stripes: Because I totally loooooove single crochet squares…. /sarcasm

109. Four Square: The curling on the edges of this one is bothersome. I’m hoping it’ll straighten up when I sew them all together. It is once again a single crochet square. The colors kinda remind me of autumn.

113. Wisteria: This looks kind of familiar….

Happy Star Wars Day! And until next time, happy crocheting!

I’ve Entered into the 100s!

Since there are only 30 squares reminding, I figure I can do about 3 squares a month and still can finish off before the end of the year. That sound reasonable. I’m flipping through this book, and I’m really not looking forward to those single crochet squares. 😦 However, I’m dedicated! I’m in too deep now; I can’t back out now.

I’ve noticed that lately my crocheting has slowed down. I have a strong suspicion it’s my new hours. Before, I’d wake up in the morning, go to work, come home, cook dinner, watch TV, crochet, and sleep. Now, I wake up, I have all this time to kill before work, but I don’t really have that feeling that I’m going to be able to relax after work. Instead, I know I’m going to do things, and then go to work, come home, and sleep immediately. I might just be anxious to get to work- there is not really a feeling of peace. Not that work is super exciting, but still, it’s an important thing I need to do.

The squares:

99. Baby Bow: Bobbles! I love when you can take a single color and still make a fun pattern.

100. Pastel Delight: Yes. Here is 100. After this is mostly just color variations.

101. Into the Blue: Decided to go with “Into the Pink” instead.

Until next time, happy crocheting!
