Baby Sweater!

One of my coworker’s has a granddaughter who just turned a year old. He asked me to make a little dress or something for her. I decided since the weather is going to cool down, a little sweater will be just fine.

It’s really cute. The pattern is from Simply Crochet by Robyn Chachula. This is a size 24 months. I’m afraid I don’t have a model for this sweater, but trust me, it drapes nicely.

The flower button that holds it together is really neat. I found it at a LYS a while back. Glad it has some use now!

Until next time, happy crocheting!

Finished My Sweater!

Who says I can’t finish a CAL? I’m pretty happy with how this turned out. The pattern is from Simply Crochet by Robyn Chachula. It’s a book with 22 patterns from different designers. This pattern is called the “Spa Shawl Top” by Doris Chan. Doris Chan is well known for her big lace designs. This is no different.

It was a little bit difficult to understand the pattern at first. You really have to read it carefully, but, in the end, it was straight forward.

It’s an alternating pattern of shells and Vs with a solid waistband in the middle. Choosing the buttons was the best part. I picked these shell/fan patterned buttons, because they match the shell crochet pattern.

This is 80% wool and 20% silk. It’s really soft and light weight. The color is great. It’ll work in the fall too! This is Mrs. Crosby Carpet Bag yarn from one of my Yarnboxes.

Until next time, happy crocheting!

Getting Ready for Sweater Weather

A heat wave has been occurring lately. It is so hot. It’s terrible.

Yet, I still decided that it was a great time to make a sweater vest. It took me about a month to complete. My friend’s mother wanted one because she works in a cold room. It might be a little clumsy, but it is definitely warm! It’s 100% wool. I quickly wore it and took it off just for these pictures.

My favorite part is the ribbing on the sides, and it’s not your typical single crochet pattern either.

If you want to make this sweater, the pattern is free, and available here.

Until next time, happy crocheting!

S&T Sunday: Nice Sweater Coat

A couple weeks ago, I asked for help on how to piece together a sweater, and now, thanks to all the help, it is complete.

Thanks to LubbyGirl, Megan, and Rainbowjunkiecorner for the tips!

It fits really well, and very warm, so I won’t really get a chance to wear it for a few months. Here’s what it looks like. (Please excuse my appearance, I’d just washed my hair.)

Friday: Please Help Me?

Not a Fan Friday. 😦

I’ve been trying to make this sweater, where I need to sew the pieces together.

More importantly, how do I do this? There are no guidelines on how to do this.

I’ve sewn the shoulder together, but now how do I attached this sleeve? It doesn’t seem to match up very well with the armhole. Um…? Please help.

S&T Sunday: My First Sweater

This is another pattern from Pop Goes Crochet by Vickie Howell. It’s a really good book and the patterns are fairly easy to follow.

The front only has arms, but the back is great!

There was a lot of weaving involved. It’s a nice sweater. 🙂

Motif Monday: Maybe I’m Old-Fashioned…

Is this too dated?

Regardless, it looks really classy, right? Maybe I’ve been watching too much Mad Men…. :/

This pattern appeared in a 1948 issue of Women’s Day, and can be found here:
